Andrej Karpathy @karpathy
Andrej Karpathy ranks #3 in the public Seekami AI Influence Top 100 and is classified as AI industry.
Who is Andrej Karpathy?
Andrej Karpathy’s career connects research, engineering and education. During his Stanford PhD he worked on vision and language and designed and taught the early CS231n course. He became a founding member of OpenAI and led Tesla’s Autopilot vision team from 2017 to 2022. His website also documents a return to OpenAI in 2023–2024 and subsequent educational work for technical and general audiences.
Notable work and what to look for
His public projects turn abstract terminology into implementation details. micrograd illustrates a small automatic-differentiation engine, while Zero to Hero provides a step-by-step route into neural networks. Developer-tool teams can study how code and incremental explanations make a difficult concept approachable instead of merely copying a popular headline.
